Our HistoryFor over 150 years the Universalist Unitarian Church has been a part of the spiritual life of Joliet, providing a religious home for people who believe that the best way to find truth is to keep an open mind. Once one of the largest churches in Joliet, our numbers have declined in the years since W.W.II. We are currently enjoying an increase in the number of new members. The transition from our downtown location to the west side is part of our resurgence as a spiritual presence in the community -- to give Joliet a church capable of meeting the needs of our diverse community and dedicated to learning and freedom of conscience. Our denomination is host to many religious points of view. Below is a list of links that may be considered an introduction to the spiritual and intellectual diversity of our denomination: Need More Information? Our continental body is the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations. We are a part of the Central Mid-West District. Within the district, we are members of the Chicago Area Unitarian Universalist Council.
